Sample Bequest Language
Following are examples of how to indicate a general or undesignated gift to the American Cancer Society:*

Sample Bequest of Remainder of Estate

"I give, devise, and bequeath to the American Cancer Society, Inc., Tax ID# 13-1788491, (pay to _________ Division), for its general purposes all (or state fraction or percentage) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real or personal. The American Cancer Society may be contacted in care of The American Cancer Society Probate and Trust Management, P. O. Box 720366, Oklahoma City, OK 73162 [or local Probate Administration address]. To the extent possible, gifts to charitable organizations should not contribute to estate or inheritance taxes, and shall be paid from income in respect of the decedent."

Sample Bequest of Specific Amount

"I give, devise, and bequeath to the American Cancer Society, Inc., Tax ID# 13-1788491, the sum of $______ (pay to __________ Division) to be used for the general purposes of the Society. The American Cancer Society may be contacted in care of The American Cancer Society Probate and Trust Management, P. O. Box 720366, Oklahoma City, OK 73162 [or local Probate Administration address]. To the extent possible, gifts to charitable organizations should not contribute to estate or inheritance taxes, and shall be paid from income in respect of the decedent."

*These are merely suggestions as to content and should be written or adapted by legal counsel to fit the contributor's individual situation.
